Taking It One Step Further

Once you’ve mastered the art of the “conscious breath”  then we can take it one step further.  Let’s break the momentum of our thinking.   Let’s put some space in:

Take a second breath.

In between the end of the first breath to the end of the second breath- were you thinking?

How many different thoughts did you have?  Initially you will notice many single thoughts or even background chatter.  Some people have reported thoughts within thoughts.  I have even heard some people report an abstract view of their thoughts coming in from different angles.  Everyone is different.  Whatever the case for you just keep bringing your attention back to just above the navel.  Be the alert watcher!

Again, this is not rocket science- it’s a simple technique. So simple that the mind says, “That won’t work” or “how boring- there’s so many things I should be doing” or “that’s not fun.”

To the mind it is very boring, the mind would rather be anywhere but here, now.

Remember you are on your way to taming the mind

The key is to have no thoughts –

only the experience of yourself as the awareness that you are.
